Love Taking Meeting Notes? ME NEITHER!

It’s Tuesday.  I’m already in my 7th virtual meeting of the week.  As I’m sure you have, I’ve acclimated myself to meetings online as best I can, but I thank whatever deity is out there (up there?) that I am not in high school trying to learn algebra via a disembodied head resembling my teacher on Zoom.

I like the white board feature ok, the break out rooms are kind of fun, chat can be…. interesting, and I like playing with the Annotate tools in the toolbar.  So, I guess, given not much in the way of alternatives….Zoom is Okay.

But. Now.

Now I’m trying to make sense of the notes I scribbled during yesterday’s meeting and it’s like squinting without my glasses at a chalkboard that’s been half erased – I’ve lost the context.

Okay so I’m not a good note taker.  I want to be engaged in the back and forth – not distancing myself with pen and paper.  I want to read facial expressions and “shoulder” language and pick up on subtleties. Some people take notes brilliantly – kudos to them.  I often depend on Zoom videos – so I’m spending at least 30 minutes trying to pick out relevance, while my clock is ticking.…

WHY ISN’T THERE A BETTER CAPTURE TOOL FOR ONLINE MEETINGS???

Well, now there is because we had to invent one!

Meet  Nugget

The team at Tortoise Labs and I have put together Nugget as a simple capture feature usable with whatever online platform you’re into.  We’ve made it an audio recording with transcription, but the BEST part is its simplicity:  Hit the “nugget” button and you’ve captured an important tidbit.  You can label it if you like, or just access it later. You can send your collection of nuggets to your group, and they can do the same. You can all give your reactions more nuance by pressing the “agree”, “disagree”, “good question”, or “confusion” prompts, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

It’s tempting to put more bells and whistles into Nugget, but we are determined to keep this simple, user-friendly, and affordable. It could even help your teenager struggling with algebra.

Stop trying to decipher crummy notes! Gain back your time, your focus, your sanity.

Try Nugget!
